Why aspirants opt for RBI Assistant over Bank PO?

Common written exams are conducted every year by various bodies to employ candidates in the nationalized banks of India. IBPS is one such body who conducts a common exam for more than 18 nationalized banks but SBI and RBI conducts common written exams for their organization only.

SBI being the biggest and oldest bank and RBI is the banker’s bank, they have immediate requirements at times thus they have a separate exam schedule. The posts offered by them are PO, CLERK, SO and Assistant. Out of these posts Assistant and PO are the most sought. The preparation for these exams need proper and systematic bank coaching in Hyderabad or at the place nearby your home town.

If we speak of RBI Assistant, it is one of the prestigious posts with less work pressure. Candidates prefer RBI Assistant over Bank PO Exam due to the following reasons:
  • Posting
RBI Assistant are preferably given posting in bigger cities (metros or state capitals), where as bank POs are posted in small villages, towns and cities.
  • Work Pressure
RBI Assistant job profile has a little work pressure as compared to Bank P.O. Working hours are fixed for RBI Assistant but there is no set working hours for Bank PO.
  • Salary and perks
Salary of Bank PO is more but benefits are less. RBI Assistant’s salary is 4-5 thousand less than bank PO but benefits of official accommodation, medical facilities etc, are more. Therefore candidates prefer RBI Assistant to that of Bank P.O.
  • Promotions
RBI Assistants are eligible to become Grade A in 3 years and then Grade B in another 3 years. There are good promotion opportunities in RBI. But Bank PO gets first promotion after completing 5 years.
  • Comfort level
Since RBI has limited working hours and fixed too. It helps an employee to maintain a good work life balance. One gets enough time to enjoy life with the family and hobbies.

Those who are looking for a fast track growth job in banking sector prefer to work in RBI as it has more benefits as compared to bank PO.
Hope these points works as an eye-opener for those who are only pursuing for bank PO.
