Duties and Responsibilities of SBI PO are as follows:
  1. Customer Service -
The Probationary Officers should properly learn various types of services which are provided by the bank to its customers such as opening of an account, issuing ATM Cards, deposits, receipts, loans, cheque books etc. 
  1. Bring new business-
The Probationary Officers should be well-versed about the new products which are launched by the banks from time to time. They should primarily focus on products which bring business to bank such as fixed deposits, insurance policies, mutual funds, credit cards, etc.
  1. To Manage cash-
The Probationary Officers should be educated and trained properly in handling cash and other major functions performed by the cashier. Nowadays, the banks work on several software’s which record daily cash transactions. Therefore, a specially designed training should be given to them to deal with such transactions in case of heavy workload or absence of clerk. He should also be well-versed about the activity of ATM.   
  1. Payment Clearance -
The Probationary Officer is given an authority to clear the payments beyond a certain amount. He is also responsible for payments which are done through cheque, DD, NEFT, RTGS etc., for all such transactions where the amount is more than the required limit.
  1. Maintaining Records-
He is given a sincere responsibility of generating reports regarding deposits, ledgers, withdrawals etc. to avoid any discrepancy or inconsistency at the end of the day.
  1. Maintain an official communication
The method and approach of official communication is considered to be an integral part of SBI PO functions. He has to maintain a systematic record of the all the official communication. He has to give prompt response to various queries asked by the customers and other departments.
