Importance of English Proficiency for SBI PO Aspirants

The notifications for SBI PO 2019 are expected to be in the month of April-May 2019. The SBI PO exam is expected to be conducted in the month of July 2019. It will be conducted in three major phases- Phase-I, Phase-II and Phase-III.

The content of English Language Section of SBI PO exam can be broadly divided into four major sections and they are:-

  1. Reading Comprehension

  1. Verbal Ability
The section is all about Para Jumbles and is passage based or on predefined sentence. The arrangement of them should be done correctly to arrive at the reasonable interpretation between them. While solving questions based on Para Jumbles with predefined sentences, there are chances that sentence that need to arrange is a supporting statement.   1. Grammar

  • Error Spotting
In this section, the students are required to read the whole sentence to spot the error. While confronting any difficulty, the students can use the verb-subject arrangement.
  • Cloze Test
In this section, the students will be provided with question which will be in the form of one paragraph with few blanks in it. The students are required to fill the blanks with appropriate words so that the paragraph looks meaningful. Normally speaking, the bright students can spot the right term within the context of the sentences. The elimination method has also worked well in solving these questions.
  • Fill in the blank (Double)
The questions based on the section of Fill in the Blanks will be in the form of a statement with two blanks and two answers for each blank.   1. Vocabulary
The section of Vocabulary consists of Para jumbles, antonyms and synonyms and paragraph based fill in the blanks. The students are advised to understand the theme and concept of the given paragraph properly. This will help students in arranging Para Jumbles easily and quickly.
